Assessment of the Risk of NSAID Gastropathy in Rheumatological Patients

To date, there are no generally accepted scales for quantifying the risk of developing NSAID gastropathy. The clinical recommendations describe risk factors for its development, while scales for assessing the severity of gastroenterological symptoms without association with NSAID gastropathy have been created separately. The purpose of this article is to create a questionnaire with the possibility of quantifying the early detection of the risk of developing NSAID gastropathy. Materials and methods. The study involved 97 patients with rheumatoid arthritis who were taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs at the time of inclusion in the study. All patients completed the questionnaire "Assessment of risk factors for NSAID gastropathy". It was revealed that gastropathy developed in patients who had acquired ≥ 2 risk factors. The questionnaire developed to assess the risk of developing NSAID gastropathy made it possible to identify this risk in the early stages of the disease, which makes it an important and effective tool in preventing the development of NSAID gastropathy and its complications.
