According to studies, periodontal tissue diseases develop mainly as a result of an increase in the number and change in the qualitative composition of bacteria in the subgingival flora, and therefore the presence of periodontopathogenic microorganisms is recognized. The purpose of this work was to review the literature on inflammatory-destructive periodontal disease and thus provide information on the epidemiology and microbiology of periodontal disease in children.

Data on the prevalence of periodontal diseases in children are presented. The etiological nature of periodontal diseases is described, indicating the development of an inflammatory reaction, to a greater extent due to the microflora of the oral cavity. The state of periodontal tissues and the presence of infectious agents in them contribute to the progression of systemic pathology. Thus, the study of microbiological factors in the pathogenesis of periodontal diseases is one of the important tasks of modern dentistry.</p>
<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>Numerous studies, experiments and clinical observations have revealed a high prevalence of periodontal disease in children and adolescents.
